Before starting the Chicago-based record label, Invisible Records, he performed with bands including Ministry, Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, and his own Industrial collective named Pigface. More recently, Atkins tours the world, touting his entrepreneurial philosophy in his book Tour:Smart, and in 2021, he opened the Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music in Bridgeport.
