Description

Tasting Notes: Sweet Lime, Passionfruit, Vibrant On the Farm | Region: Huila, Colombia | Varietal: Pink Bourbon | Processing: Washed Our average cupping score: 86.5 About the Producers LaREB is a farmer-led collective of about 60 producers in Colombia, created to give smallholder growers direct access to international markets. By managing every step—from quality control and sales to financing, warehousing, and shipping—LaREB removes the need for intermediaries like exporters or importers. This structure means that most of the value of each coffee, around 80–90% of profits, stays in Colombia and goes directly to the producers who grew it. One of those producers is Yoiner, a third-generation coffee grower who came to coffee after a career in banking and accounting. While working at Banco Agrario, he saw how difficult it was for small producers to succeed under the country’s financial system. Wanting to change that, he left the banking world to rebuild his family’s coffee farm, which he took over about six to eight years ago. Yoiner’s early years were challenging—he experimented with buying cherries from nearby farms, a process that often lacked transparency and carried financial risk. After facing losses, he decided to focus instead on cultivating and processing coffee from his own land, where he could prioritize quality and traceability. His siblings remain active supporters, helping sustain the family’s long-standing coffee tradition as the farm continues to grow and evolve.
