One of the worst days that we relive every year is the day we run out of Sudan Rume. And, without fail, year after year, one of the best days is when the next harvest of Sudan Rume arrives at the roastery. Work comes to a standstill, people fall to their knees in gleeful tears, loved ones are called, celebration and merriment abounds. For a glorious moment we cease to be coworkers, and instead walk hand-in-hand into a shared glimpse of paradise. Sudan Rume is a rare variety that’s difficult to grow- it’s a landrace Ethiopian varietal that was brought to Las Margaritas to experiment with because of it’s potential cup profile.
