Tasting notes: Lemonade, Caramel, Ripe Apricot Banko Taratu comes from the village of the same name in Ethiopia’s Gedeb District, within the renowned Gedeo/Yirgacheffe growing area. Produced by more than 500 smallholder, shade-grown family farms, this coffee is made from indigenous heirloom varieties grown at high elevation. Ripe cherries are carefully handpicked as part of a communal harvest tradition that supports the livelihoods, education, and healthcare of the local community. Processed using a washed double-fermentation method, the coffee undergoes two fermentation stages before being dried on raised beds for 12–15 days. This careful process brings clarity and complexity to the cup, with lemonade-like brightness, a smooth caramel body, and ripe apricot sweetness. The result is a crisp, fruit-forward Ethiopian coffee with a refined and layered character.
