Located in Alto Quiel, Boquete, in Panama’s Chiriquí highlands, the estate combines volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and surrounding native cloud forest. This selection comes from Lot Vuelta, grown at 1,780–1,820 masl. This coffee was part of the Lamastus family’s preselection of candidate lots for Best of Panama 2026 and the family’s private auction. It is a sister lot to Elida Geisha Natural Vuelta, which placed third in the Natural Gesha category at Best of Panama 2026. Variety Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an Arabica variety with Ethiopian origins. Panamanian Gesha is valued for its high cup-quality potential at altitude and often shows delicate floral and stone-fruit aromatics. Cultivation, harvest, processing, and roasting all shape how those characteristics appear in the final cup. Processing The cherries were harvested on the afternoon of April 28, 2026. After flotation sorting in water, they were transferred to a dark room and dried whole for 30 days. Once drying was complete, the coffee began its resting period. Dark Room Drying, or DRD, uses an enclosed dark room with fans and dehumidifiers to manage airflow and moisture removal. It controls the drying environment without adding a separate fermentation step by itself.
