Tasting notes: Green Grape, Lemon-Lime, Yellow Plum Fincas Del Putushio Washed Mejorado is a rare and beautifully refined coffee from Loja, Ecuador, produced by 19-year-old Jose Jijon alongside his father, award-winning producer Pepe Jijon, and Francisco Vintimilla. Grown at an elevation of 2222 metres, this light-roasted lot represents the next generation of the Jijon family's coffee farming tradition. The Mejorado variety is highly prized in Ecuador for its distinctive sweetness and complex character, with genetics associated with Bourbon and Ethiopian Landrace. Traditionally washed, the coffee is picked and depulped on the same day before resting overnight in dry parchment. It is then rinsed with fresh spring water and slowly dried on covered raised beds for 30 days. The result is an exceptionally clean and delicate cup with a very light body and notes of fresh green grapes, sparkling lemon-lime, and sweet yellow plum, finishing with remarkable clarity and sweetness.
