Entries came in from roasters across 35 states, one coffee per roaster, per category. Coffee Review has rated coffees on a 100-point scale since 1997, when it brought wine-style reviewing to specialty coffee, scoring aroma, acidity, body, flavor, and aftertaste and rolling them into one number. Roast Level: Light Variety: Gesha Process: Natural Region: Alto Quiel, Panama Elevation: 1800 m We taste: Stonefruit, blood orange, sweet cherry, syrupy, refreshing, elegant when cool This Green Tip Gesha comes from Chombi, a 1.5-hectare plot within Mima Estate, sitting at 1,800 meters on the volcanic foothills of Barú. Seventy percent shade, rich volcanic soil, and cool nights that dip to 14°C. At harvest, cherries were floated to ensure only the densest, ripest fruit moved forward, then laid on raised African beds inside a drying greenhouse. Four days in, they transferred to Grain Pro bags for a gentle three-day fermentation before a long, unhurried 28-day drying.
