Basha Bekele - Gonjobe Site - Natural

Basha Bekele, who has become one of the best known names among the Bensa smallholder farmerexporter all stars, farms 12 hectares in and around Bombe. He mostly grows 74158 (known locally as Walega) in semi-forested plots, and operates collection sites in Bombe, Shantawane, Kokose, and inthe ’25/26 season added an even higher elevation site in Badigalo. Through those sites, he buys cherry from over 150 neighboring producers sitting as high as 2,300 meters. Before smallholders were allowed to export directly, both Basha and his father sold into the cooperative system, his father once managing a co-op in Bombe that supplied the Sidama Union. This particular lot is from Basha's Gonjobe Site, with a mindbending elevation of 2350-2500masl. producing extremely tiny and dense beans that are jampacked with flavor.  We taste: A huge floral and fruity presence in equal measure in the aroma, tons of blue and purple fruits complimented by violet and jasmine florals. The acidity intensity is high, presenting very tropical like lychee, kiwi and starfruit. As the cup cools, the silky texture and natural sweetness blend into a pleasant blueberry and blackberry jam supported by denser tropical mango and guava all with a pleasant jasmine tea note in the aftertaste!
