Tasting notes: Grape Jelly, Blood Orange, Purple Flower Ethiopia Abdo comes from Abdo Abamecha’s farm in Limu, in the Jimma Zone of Oromia, where coffee grows beneath a dense forest canopy at 1,900–2,100 metres above sea level. Abdo cultivates more than 30 hectares and works alongside over 200 smallholder farmers. The combination of shade, volcanic soil, and a living forest ecosystem creates the conditions for an elegant natural coffee with a layered fruit and floral character. For this lot, only the ripest cherries are hand-selected and dried whole on raised beds, slowly and without a washing stage. That restrained natural process keeps the work performed in the field visible in the cup. As a member of the Tokuma Group, Abdo is also part of a collective that enables smallholders in Western Ethiopia to grow, process, and export their coffees directly, strengthening both traceability and producer ownership.
