Tasting notes: Milk Chocolate, Pear La Colina, meaning “The Hill,” is located in San Martín Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango. Producer Antonio Medina is the third generation of his family to farm there, but coffee was his own ambition: he planted his first coffee tree in 1991, gradually expanded production, and later built processing facilities on the farm. His focus on quality has also brought strong results in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence. This season’s washed Caturra is silky and balanced, with milk chocolate forming a smooth base for pear and stone-fruit sweetness. As the coffee cools, dried-fruit notes add depth while the acidity remains soft and clean. Approachable yet expressive, La Colina is versatile enough for both filter and espresso brewing.
