Description
Origin: Ethiopia Region: Bensa, Sidama Station: Alo Coffee-Murgo Owner: Tamiru Tadesse & Messi Altitude: 2300-2360 masl Variety: 74158 Crop: Picked in Jan.2026 / Arrived in May. 2026 Process: K72 washed Notes:Guava,Green grape,Grapefruit,Green tea About farm: Alo Coffee was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Tamiru. With years of experience in the coffee sector, Tamiru fully understands the unfair pricing and undervaluation issues coffee farmers are confronted with. The first Ethiopia Cup of Excellence (CoE) competition in 2020 inspired them to launch their business. In 2021, their specialty coffee from their hometown village of Alo won the national championship on its very first entry, strengthening their commitment to building world-class Sidamo specialty coffee. About process: Once uniformly ripe fresh cherries arrive at the processing station, they are carefully sorted and placed into fermentation tanks for 72 hours of whole-fruit fermentation under controlled conditions (the skin and mucilage remain intact). After fermentation, the cherries are pulped and thoroughly washed to strip away all residual mucilage. The coffee is then moved onto African raised drying beds for slow shade drying for approximately 26 days. During drying, the coffee beans are turned regularly to achieve even moisture reduction until the moisture content reaches 10–11%.
