Description
An exceptionally elegant cup, with a deep sweetness and juicy, lovely aromas that are typical of the washed Geishas from Hacienda La Esmeralda. Expect aromatic notes of fine jasmine blossoms, honeydew melon, and ripe, sweet peaches. The Buena Vista 3 lot comes from the El Velo region, where the fresh, cool climate provides perfect conditions for growing Geisha plants. At this altitude, the coffee cherries developed particularly sweet and floral notes. The El Velo farm is located between 1,650 and 1,900 meters, while the surrounding and beautiful nature reserve rises up to 2,900 meters. For this coffee, only perfectly ripe coffee cherries were hand-picked, then traditionally washed and gently dried on shaded drying beds to preserve the full aroma. In 2004, Hacienda La Esmeralda made history when the Peterson family won the prestigious Best of Panama competition with a Geisha coffee that was previously unknown in the region. In this extraordinary year, they not only broke the record but also achieved the highest price ever reached at a coffee auction. The variety originally comes from Ethiopia and is known as Gesha everywhere except in Panama. Since then, this exceptional coffee has developed into one of the most celebrated and sought-after varieties worldwide. The harvest at Hacienda La Esmeralda is a meticulous process. Only the ripest cherries are selected and hand-picked in several passes to ensure perfect ripeness. On each coffee bush, only the ripe cherries are picked up to ten times during the harvest season to harvest only the best quality. The result is an elegant, juicy cup with notes of jasmine, peach, and melon. What makes Buena Vista 3 even more special is the social contribution that Hacienda La Esmeralda makes. With a strong commitment to social responsibility, the farm supports important programs, including a school for the children of migrant workers and a minimum bonus of 30% for all employees.
