Description

Tropical notes of ripe mango and lychee unfold, giving the espresso a complex acidity, depth, and structure, while the finish is smooth, sweet, and lingering, with notes of milk chocolate and caramel and a subtle touch of natural-process funk. This natural lot comes from Lalesa, one of the finest coffee-growing areas in Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone. The cherries are sourced from smallholder farmers around the Lalesa Washing Station and carefully selected before being dried whole. The natural process allows the ripe fruit character of the cherries to develop during drying, while retaining the clarity and structure typical of high-quality Gedeo coffees. The result is a vibrant, fruit-forward cup with plenty of sweetness and depth. The Lalesa Washing Station is located in Gedeo, an area known for exceptional coffee and its dense semi-forest vegetation. Coffee is grown beneath a diverse canopy of shade trees, including the characteristic false banana, creating a rich and biodiverse growing environment. The station was established in 2018 by Alemayehu Tilahun, who has worked in coffee for almost 20 years. He works closely with smallholder farmers from the surrounding area, building long-term relationships that form the foundation of the station’s coffees.
