Inspired by watching his grandparents grow coffee, he turned a childhood ambition into a lifelong pursuit, working alongside his wife to build a farm grounded in family tradition and a deep respect for the land. That journey has demanded perseverance. Through the devastating coffee leaf rust outbreak and falling coffee prices in 2012, Remiery remained committed to his farm, continuing to invest in quality despite the uncertainty. Over time, his work earned recognition on the international stage, opening new opportunities for the family and strengthening his determination to keep improving. His Cup of Excellence record tells part of that story. In 2018, Los Pinos placed second with a washed Typica scoring 92.64, followed by sixth place in 2019 with a honey-processed Typica scoring 90.23. Further recognition came in 2023, when his natural-processed Typica lots from Platanares and Los Pinos placed sixth and seventh respectively. In 2025, Los Pinos placed fifth in the Traditional Varieties category with a honey-processed Typica. These achievements span different harvests and processing methods, reflecting years of thoughtful work with this traditional variety. Our selection is a washed Typica grown at 1,650 metres above sea level. In the cup, stewed green apple brings mellow orchard-fruit sweetness, complemented by a delicate herbal character. Walnut adds a gently savoury nuttiness, while brown sugar rounds out the profile with warmth and depth. Together, these flavours create a comforting, quietly complex cup—one that invites you to slow down and appreciate the work of a producer whose commitment has endured across generations.
