One variety in particular, called sidra, was being grown at a nearby experimental plot run by Nestlé before Fausto adopted it to be a main fixture of his farm. In 2023, a washed process sidra entry from his farm was awarded 14th place overall in the Ecuador Cup of Excellence competition.
