Description
Hello Friend! This month’s selection explores how variety, processing, and origin shape four remarkably different expressions in the cup. From rare varieties in Colombia and Costa Rica to classic washed coffees from Kenya and Ethiopia, the set moves through bright citrus, delicate florals, layered fruit, and deeper, more structured flavours. Colombia’s CGLE Las Margaritas Sidra Washed presents a clean and articulate expression of Sidra. Careful fermentation and washed processing preserve its citrus-led profile, refined florals, and distinctive cooling finish. Costa Rica’s La Lia Etiope 47 Red Honey brings together Ethiopian-linked genetics, high-elevation Tarrazú terroir, and precise honey processing to create a sweet, rounded cup with fruit, tea, and floral complexity. Kenya’s Riara Estate AA offers the selection’s deepest profile. Traditional washed processing and extended soaking highlight layers of plum, dark berries, tobacco, and cedar, producing a rich and powerful cup. Completing the selection, Ethiopia’s Uraga Tome Washed showcases the clarity and elegance associated with Guji’s highland coffees, with bright citrus, white peach, bergamot, and delicate florals. Together, these four coffees offer a curated journey through variety and process—from washed Sidra and red honey Etiope 47 to classic Kenyan and Ethiopian washed traditions—revealing how thoughtful production can create four distinctly memorable cups. COLOMBIA CGLE Las Margaritas – Sidra Washed A refined Sidra from Café Granja La Esperanza’s Las Margaritas farm. Controlled fermentation and washed processing preserve the variety’s clarity and aromatic character, revealing yuzu, bergamot, orange, peach, and a refreshing hint of mint. COSTA RICA La Lia – Etiope 47 Red Honey A distinctive Etiope 47 from La Lia in Tarrazú. Red honey processing builds sweetness and texture while retaining the variety’s delicate character, producing notes of black tea, cranberry, yuzu, fig, and peach. KENYA Kiambu Riara Estate AA A rich and structured estate coffee from Kiambu, produced using Kenya’s traditional washed and soaking process. Its profile combines dried plum, blackberry, blackcurrant, tobacco, and cedar in a deep, lingering cup. ETHIOPIA Uraga Tome – Washed A clean and delicately floral washed coffee from Uraga in Ethiopia’s Guji zone. High-elevation growing conditions and careful processing bring forward lemon peel, white peach, bergamot, frangipani, and white florals. The October Selection will be delivered on 2nd October or 9th October. Thank you for your support, friend.
