Gatura factory started to process in 1975, by then it was under giant society; Mukurwe-ini farmers Cooperative Society Limited. Later in year 2000 there was split and Muhito famers cooperative society was formed that composed of 4 Factories. In 2004 the 4 factories merged and formed Rumukia farmers cooperative society Limited that lasted for 21years and shamelessly brought down by debts. Now operating as a single unit, Gatura is a Kikuyu name meaning small village where people were consolidated during colonial rule (people developed a bond of unity till today) This is a honey process lot, atypical for Kenya and the terroir and process combination makes for an extremely juicy cup - apricots, nectarines, hibiscus, fresh berry jams, and bright florals punch through in a super unique cup.  It is a pleasure and a truly full circle moment to be able to work directly with Kamavindi Coffee; early in my career as a barista I was exposed to their work, story and ethos and I was completely inspired by them. I am even more humbled and inspired that our philosphies align so closely and I cannot wait to continue our work together.
