Description

COLOMBIA YESSICA PARRA - YOUTH COLLAB PROJECT - COMMUNITY BLEND OF WASHED LOTS RICH CHOCOLATE, 7 LAYER BAR, LIGHT ORANGE SPARKLE, HONEY Another fun and new Unblended lot to light up your day. Our Youth Collab Project with Yessica Parra and Diego is designed to find and support emerging producers in Huila while building something with enough volume to be useful. Yessica and Diego cup and select coffees from producers around the region, giving us a chance to buy what they're producing today—and hopefully identify the farmers we'll be buying individual lots from tomorrow. The coffee itself is pure comfort: rich chocolate, 7 Layer Bar, honey sweetness, and just enough orange sparkle to keep everything lively. Sweet, balanced, and ridiculously drinkable. https://www.unblended.coffee/products/productor-yessica-and-diego-parra BEAN DETAILS: ORIGIN:  Huila, Colombia PRODUCER: Smallholder producers from the region ELEVATION: 2,050 masl PROCESS: Traditional Washed VARIETY: Sidra TASTING NOTES: Rich chocolate, 7 Layer Bar, honey sweetness, and just enough orange sparkle to keep everything lively. Sweet, balanced, and ridiculously drinkable. ROAST TYPE: Light   Farm Level About the Project We've worked with Yessica Parra on some pretty extraordinary individual coffees, but this project gives us a different way to support the work she and Diego are doing in their community. Instead of beginning with a producer who already has enough volume or infrastructure to create an exportable single-origin lot, the Youth Collab Project starts smaller. Yessica and Diego taste coffees from producers in the region and select lots that meet the quality they're looking for. Combining those coffees allows us to build meaningful volume, purchase from more producers, and begin relationships earlier. For us, that's the exciting part. A producer can enter the program with what they're harvesting today. If the coffee shows potential, there's an opportunity to work together, improve quality, increase production, and eventually graduate into a dedicated single-producer release. So while this bag says community blend, there are individual farmers behind it—and hopefully a few names you'll see on Color bags in the future. The Process This is a traditional washed coffee built around sweetness and cleanliness. Coffee is harvested by the participating producers and receives a short fermentation while still in cherry. From there, it is processed as a washed coffee, keeping the fermentation restrained and allowing the chocolate and honey characteristics of the lots to come through. Yessica and Diego then cup and select the coffees themselves, assembling the final lot based on quality and cup profile. The result isn't meant to be the wildest coffee on our menu. It's meant to be sweet, clean, chocolatey, and incredibly easy to drink—while creating a pathway for the next generation of producers in Huila.
