Colombia - Marlon Bolaños Gesha - Washed Process

ALL PROFITS FROM THE SALE OF THIS COFFEE WILL GO TOWARD EARTHQUAKE RELIEF IN COLOMBIA: After chatting a bit with Marlon on Instagram about the earthquakes that devastated major coffee producing regions in Colombia, we decided that all of the profits from the sale of this coffee will go toward relief. I will be working with Sara Bedoya, from Cofinet, to figure out how to allocate these funds most effectively! Marlon is a stellar producer Acevedo, Huila. Along with his two brothers Hemerson and Pedro, Marlon runs The Three Coffee Farmers, a farm where they grow pink bourbon, gesha, and chiroso. Marlon’s coffees have been amongst the best I’ve tried from Colombia and excel when pushed very light. It is a great pleasure to have his coffee on the menu, as their meticulous cultivation and processing produces green that is expressive and delectable. Outside of growing coffee and managing processing, quality-control, and commercial strategy at the farm, Marlon is an accomplished barista, having won several competitions with the “champions’ water” from his farm. This washed gesha was held in cherry for 48 hours in submerged barrels before it was dried and then fermented dry-fermented for an additional 48 hours. The coffee was then fully washed and finally dried for 10-15 days, until it reached the desired moisture content. In the cup, I find extremely juicy and tropical fruits, like passionfruit, guava, and orange, bright tangy florals, and a punch of bergamot.  This coffee is one of the first that I roasted on the new production machine, the Roest P3000 (with which I am enamored). All coffee from this drop was roasted on 8/24 and is best enjoyed a minimum of 6 weeks off roast. Sourced from Unblended Price before shipping: $17/lb Price after shipping: $21/lb
