Tasting notes: Campfire, Burnt Caramel, Dark Chocolate Alter Ego is our dark roast. Now, don't expect to see black sweaty beans here. This is a well developed roast that still leaves the beans chocolate brown but brings out warm flavours of dark caramels, baker's chocolates and spices. It's syrupy and round. The current Alter Ego release comes from small growers in San Miguel Dueñas, Guatemala. Their cherries are depulped, fermented and washed at the San Miguel mill, then carefully dried. Phil & Sebastian has worked with San Miguel since 2018 through the Entre Volcanes program, which supports growers with financing, agricultural training and medical care.
