Description
Tastes Like Kumquat • Yellow Peach • Redcurrant Tanat's Take: Grown at Ngacha Estate in the highlands of Kirinyaga, this lot pairs two emblematic Kenyan varieties, SL28 and SL34, with a Yellow Honey process that lets more of the mucilage's body and sugars accompany the drying. Ngacha Estate is a family farm whose story begins in 1954. Today Martin Muriuki, second generation, continues his father's work by developing reference Kenyan varieties and experimenting with processing. In the cup, redcurrant brings that sensation of small, bright and acidic red fruit. Kumquat then takes over, adding a finer, almost zesty citrus note, and yellow peach finally arrives, juicy and sweet. The cup as a whole is balanced and elegant. Roasted for filter.
