Kinama

Description

From the hills surrounding Kinama in Burundi’s Nyabiraba Commune, this naturally processed Bourbon is deeply sweet, fruit-forward and wonderfully layered. Ripe coffee cherries are dried whole on raised beds, developing a rich sweetness and concentrated fruit character. In the cup, expect juicy cranberry and dark berry up front, followed by mango-like fruit, dark chocolate and a subtle coriander spice. As it cools, the fruit becomes increasingly expressive while a bittersweet cocoa character keeps everything grounded. It’s a beautiful example of natural-process Burundi: vibrant and fruity without being overly funky, with plenty of sweetness and structure.
