Process: Washed Varietal: Red Bourbon Elevation: 1,600 MASL Tasting Notes: Lemonade, Floral, Honey, Grape Juice Shangi Hills Washing Station was built in early 2016 but was barely operational in the early years. Fidele Ndagijimana acquired the station at the beginning of 2022, and has since processed over four containers of coffee cherries after gaining access to the Rwanda Trading Company market. Established in 2009, Rwanda Trading Company (RTC) has been a vehicle for positive social impact, displaying a consistent commitment to securing economic freedom and security for smallholder farmers by building resilient, transparent supply chains. The group owns and operates 16 wet mills and works directly with farmers throughout Rwanda- buying, milling, processing, and exporting their coffees- while investing in producing communities through training programs, resulting in an 86% increase in farm revenue. RTC continues to work with Fidele to support the 556 farmers surrounding the station and help revitalize the coffee farms in the area.
