One of the unique characteristics of Orange Bourbon is that its cherries ripen to an orange colour, making it more challenging for pickers to identify cherries at their peak ripeness. An interesting tradition at El Suspiro is that the first harvest of the season often begins on Christmas Day, 25 December. While Maria stays home to celebrate Christmas with their children, Alejandro has to go to work on Christmas day to kick off the harvest. Originally from El Salvador, Orange Bourbon was brought to Nicaragua by Alejandro and has since become one of the farm’s standout varieties. The variety is known for for its elegant floral aromas and clean fruity flavours.
